Biblioteca Comunitária de Petrópolis Socorro Chaves, Manaus AM
A community library that started as a grassroots movement. They started as a test preparation program for university admission, evolved into a library for the community.
Books for Brazil delivered 50 books to the organization to jump start their children book section.
A statement from a local who benefits from the new library:
“The kids started going when the library lady called them. They became more enthusiastic and my 4 year old daughter asks me every day to read a story to her. Since I don’t have books, I have to repeat the same story. My daughter never gets tired of listening. And if for some reason the library lady can’t come, she complains all day long.”
